FEX trading fees: What you really pay on crypto exchanges

When you trade crypto, FEX trading fees, the costs charged by exchanges for buying or selling digital assets. Also known as trading commissions, these fees directly eat into your returns—no matter how smart your trade. Many think low fees mean a better exchange, but that’s not always true. A 0.1% fee means nothing if the exchange has poor liquidity, slow withdrawals, or hidden charges for deposits and withdrawals.

Real trading costs go beyond the percentage you see on the screen. Centralized exchanges, platforms like Binance or Kraken that hold your crypto for you. Also known as CEXs, they often offer lower fees because they handle orders internally. But decentralized exchanges, platforms like Uniswap or Trader Joe where you trade directly from your wallet. Also known as DEXs, they charge network gas fees on top of trading fees—sometimes more than the trade itself. A 0.1% fee on a DEX could turn into 2% when you factor in Ethereum or Solana network costs. And if you’re trading obscure tokens? You might pay 1% or more just to get filled.

Some exchanges, like Rfinex, advertise 0.10% fees on ETH-based altcoins—but they lack fiat on-ramps and have almost no volume. That means your order might not execute at all, making the low fee useless. Others, like Strike Finance, focus on payments, not trading, so their fee structure doesn’t even apply to traders. And then there are fake exchanges like Yum Yum, which don’t exist at all—just scam sites pretending to offer low fees to steal your keys.

You can’t compare fees without looking at liquidity. A 0.05% fee on a thinly traded token means you’ll get a terrible price because there’s no one on the other side of the trade. Meanwhile, BitMEX offers 0.02% fees with deep liquidity for derivatives—but only if you’re experienced enough to handle 100x leverage. Low fees mean nothing if you’re losing money on slippage.

What matters isn’t just the fee number. It’s how much you actually keep after fees, slippage, gas, and withdrawal costs. The best exchange isn’t the one with the lowest headline rate. It’s the one that gets you in and out with the least friction—and the most of your money intact.

Below, you’ll find real reviews of exchanges that actually publish their fees, along with deep dives into platforms that hide costs in plain sight. Some are dead. Some are scams. A few still work. We cut through the noise so you know exactly where your money goes.
